About me

Hi, I'm Alison. I bring over 25 years of experience as a personal trainer, Pilates instructor, and science educator. I founded SheVive following a long, yet ultimately successful, journey with my hormones and fertility.

In my 30s, without changing my diet, lifestyle, or routines, I began noticing subtle shifts: disrupted sleep, fluctuating energy, and a sense that something just wasn’t right.

Still, I entered my fertility journey full of hope.

What followed was a decade of emotional highs and lows, multiple pregnancy losses and a growing sense that I was losing touch with my old self.

I experienced seemingly unrelated symptoms: irritability, brain fog, internal electrical shocks, interrupted sleep, anxiety, loss of strength, loss of confidence and emotional turmoil - to an intensity that made me feel like I was going crazy. After much research, I realised I was in perimenopause.

Like many women -  in fact, a whopping 60% of those surveyed¹ - I had never been informed about menopause before the symptoms began affecting my work, relationships, and overall wellbeing.

Hormone therapy wasn’t an option whilst trying to conceive, so I felt alone and uncertain. Yet, as a firm believer in education and possessing a growth mindset, I turned to study and research. Through personal research, professional courses and a university Master's degree, I began connecting the dots.

I learned how stress hormones can disrupt the body’s ability to balance other hormones which affect your sleep, mood, energy and brain.

Reducing stress became my primary focus. I also discovered how specific nutrition choices, lifestyle changes, and nervous system support could improve my sleep, mood, and clarity.

I adapted my exercise routines too  shifting away from long cardio sessions to more restorative movement and targeted strength training. Bit by bit, my energy and confidence were restored.

I found calm, alignment and subsequently joy when, in my late 40's, I had my beautiful daughter.
